Hey y'all... Does anybody read this blog? ha ha ha!! Well I don't care!
Anyway, the album is really coming along. I'm very happy with how the guitars sound; now it's time to work some of that magic with the vocals! So if you're reading this, just send me your address and I promise you'll have a copy some time in August.
I wrote a new song on Friday, and recorded it in its entirety on Saturday, so "say hello" to the final song on The Summer of Punk and the Fall of Fidel:
Say Goodbye
What a crazy situation
The bombs went off in every nation
It started as a celebration
But now we face annihilation
Is this the day our parents feared?
Did everyone just disappear?
The nuclear clouds start to clear
And you and I are standing here
You're the last girl on earth
But you're not the one for me
You're the last girl on earth
Say goodbye to humanity
What a sad scenario
No juice to run my stereo
It's really not that scary, though
Just extraordinary, so
I live the way I did before
The greater good I still ignore
Or maybe they'll be better for
Their not existing anymore
You're the last girl on earth
But you're not the one for me
You're the last girl on earth
Say goodbye to humanity

Untitled (for now)
People on the road
Don't know where they're going
Don't know where they're going at all
They've got their lights to guide the way
But they're hardly showing
No they're hardly showing at all
Keep one eye out for yesterday
But she ain't coming back
No she ain't coming back, whoah
Keep one eye on the road
I can't stray from the track
It's one way on this track, whoah
Rebellion in my mind
You know it never serves me
No it never serves me at all
I'm on the way to paradise
Though I don't deserve it
No I don't deserve it at all
Keep one eye out for yesterday
But she ain't coming back
No she ain't coming back, whoah
Keep one eye on the road ahead
'Cuz I can't stray from the track
It's one way on this track, whoah
I gave ten bucks to Jesus
But I gave twenty to the devil
I never meant to spend my cash that way
I opened up my wallet
To my surprise I found it empty
But tomorrow's the day we all get our pay
Don't know where they're going
Don't know where they're going at all
They've got their lights to guide the way
But they're hardly showing
No they're hardly showing at all
Keep one eye out for yesterday
But she ain't coming back
No she ain't coming back, whoah
Keep one eye on the road
I can't stray from the track

New Album in Progress
Hey, folks!
I've begun recording songs - back in the old living room! - for the latest Crash Martinez album. All the songs are brand new, with the exception of a couple covers I'm throwing in there (marked * below)..
This should be a really fun CD. We've had a pretty good time writing these songs (OK, mostly me), and I think they'll be equally fun to listen to! Everything is still tentative of course, depending solely upon my own changing whims, but for now the title and track list are as follows:
THE SUMMER OF PUNK AND THE FALL OF FIDEL
1. The Evolution of Sympathy
2. Name Dropping
3. Bass and a Bottle
4. We Like to Fish
5. On Avoiding Death
6. Highway 101*
7. Skeleton Krüe
8. Under the Sun
9. U.S.A.
10. The Land is Lost
11. Always Coca-Cola*
12. It’s Warm Outside
13. My Heart Turns to Whiskey
14. The Penny Roll Blues
15. Rainy Day

It's Warm Outside
Well you can ask me what I think about my car
I'd say it's not about to get too far
Good thing it's a bright and sunny day
I'd rather ride my skateboard anyway
Summer sweat is drippin' off my nose
Someone spray me with a garden hose
Baseball, baseball till the sun goes down
Grab me a cigar and head downtown
Whoa-oah! June eighteenth, nineteen seventy-nine
Whoa-oah! I celebrate it with my friends and with a bottle of wine
Whoa-oah! When the summer's on the way I'm feelin' just fine
Whoa-oah! Gonna sit on the porch with this guitar of mine
Well you can ask me what I think about you now
But you don't want my answer anyhow
I don't care what you think about this song
It's fast and loud and it doesn't take too long
There's nothin' like an early summer night
Eat a midnight burrito, it'll make you feel all right
It's warm outside and you know I meant it when I said
I'm gonna keep havin' fun and singin' until I'm dead
Whoa-oah! June eighteenth, nineteen seventy-nine
Whoa-oah! I celebrate it with a stogue and with a bottle of shine
Whoa-oah! When the summer's on the way I'm feelin' just fine
Whoa-oah! Gonna sit on the porch and sing this song of mine
I'd say it's not about to get too far

The Evolution of Sympathy
When you cry in first grade, your mom so sweet
Says she loves you and buys you ice cream to eat
When you cry in high school, they smile at you
And say they know exactly what you’re going through
When you cry in college, your roommate tells
You to take your whining somewhere else
This looks like my tenth grade poetry
I can’t recall what it’s supposed to be
I yelled so loud but no one heard
‘Cuz what I was saying wasn’t in my words
When you cry in first grade, your mom so sweet
Says she loves you and buys you ice cream to eat
When you cry in high school, they smile at you
And say they know exactly what you’re going through
When you cry in college, your roommate tells
You to take your problems somewhere else
Sunny outside, dark and cold within
Dancing with angels on the head of a pin
I’d rather be trash than be such a freak
At least the trash gets taken out once a week
When you cry in first grade, your mom so sweet
Says she loves you and buys you ice cream to eat
When you cry in high school, they lie to you
And say they know exactly what you’re going through
When you cry in college, your roommate tells
You to take your whining somewhere else
Says she loves you and buys you ice cream to eat
When you cry in high school, they smile at you
And say they know exactly what you’re going through

The Finger
I enjoy my pipe when the feeling comes my way
I enjoy a drink just about every day
And I enjoy that rock & roll more than you could know
They’re gifts from God because he loves me so
Don’t let them tell you you can’t smoke
Don’t let them tell you you can’t chew
Don’t let them tell you you can’t go with girls that do
Don’t let them tell you it’s a sin
God never said it and it’s not true
Don’t let them point their faithless finger down at you
I give thanks to God; He’s always good to me
Delicious Gospel wine - I love to “taste and see”
And I enjoy reality; I won’t close my ears and eyes
They can’t steal away my freedom with their lies
Don’t let them tell you you can’t smoke
Don’t let them tell you you can’t chew
Don’t let them tell you you can’t go with girls that do
Don’t let them tell you you can’t drink
And watch R-rated movies too
Don’t let them throw their faithless rule-book down on you
Don’t let them point their faithless finger down at you
I enjoy a drink just about every day
And I enjoy that rock & roll more than you could know
They’re gifts from God because he loves me so
Don’t let them tell you you can’t smoke

Name Droppin’
I wrote this song yesterday... I really like it, but what else is new?! I think I like it because it "feels really punk" to me. It's pretty serious, but kind of silly at times - definitely a high-energy song. Well, see what you think of it.
Name Droppin'
You came in the name of Frank Sinatra
In a drunken haze when they finally gotcha
They came in the name of a girl named Leslie
Who swooned at the sight of Elvis Presley
We came in the name of Homer Simpson
But he don’t bleed red and he don’t bleed crimson
They came in the name of Abraham Lincoln
From the North to the South without even blinkin’
And we’re all name droppin’
And we’re all brand shoppin’
And there ain’t no stoppin’…
He came in the name of a vile education
Richard McBeef and the new generation
I came in the name of my God and Savior
Well who is your God to judge our behavior
When we’re all name droppin’
And we’re all brand shoppin’
And there ain’t no stoppin’
And we’re all sock hoppin’
And we’re all pill poppin’
And we’re all name droppin’
To live under a name
Maybe Nixon, maybe Kennedy
You live under a name
In a quest for a quick identity
To look at the dark side
Is to have the chance to look away
And you know we’ll do it
Just give us one more… Name
And we’re all Madonna
And we’re all George Bush
And we’re all the Beatles
And we’re all King David
And we’re all King Kong
And we’re all King Cotton
And we’re all Sid Vicious
And we’re all Babe Ruth
And we’re all Joe McCarthy, Fred Flintstone, Neill Armstrong…
