Name Droppin’

I wrote this song yesterday... I really like it, but what else is new?! I think I like it because it "feels really punk" to me. It's pretty serious, but kind of silly at times - definitely a high-energy song. Well, see what you think of it.

Name Droppin'

You came in the name of Frank Sinatra
In a drunken haze when they finally gotcha
They came in the name of a girl named Leslie
Who swooned at the sight of Elvis Presley

We came in the name of Homer Simpson
But he don’t bleed red and he don’t bleed crimson
They came in the name of Abraham Lincoln
From the North to the South without even blinkin’

And we’re all name droppin’
And we’re all brand shoppin’
And there ain’t no stoppin’…

He came in the name of a vile education
Richard McBeef and the new generation
I came in the name of my God and Savior
Well who is your God to judge our behavior

When we’re all name droppin’
And we’re all brand shoppin’
And there ain’t no stoppin’

And we’re all sock hoppin’
And we’re all pill poppin’
And we’re all name droppin’

To live under a name
Maybe Nixon, maybe Kennedy
You live under a name
In a quest for a quick identity

To look at the dark side
Is to have the chance to look away
And you know we’ll do it
Just give us one more… Name

And we’re all Madonna
And we’re all George Bush
And we’re all the Beatles

And we’re all King David
And we’re all King Kong
And we’re all King Cotton

And we’re all Sid Vicious
And we’re all Babe Ruth
And we’re all Joe McCarthy, Fred Flintstone, Neill Armstrong…
